Tour Overview
The grand cross-border adventure combining Kenya's Masai Mara, Amboseli, and Lake Nakuru with Tanzania's Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater in one epic 10-day journey. This is East Africa's greatest hits — every iconic park, all the Big Five, and landscapes that will take your breath away.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Drive north through the scenic Kenya Highlands to Lake Nakuru National Park. This compact park is a designated rhino sanctuary — one of the best places in Kenya to see both black and white rhinos up close. Afternoon game drive around the alkaline lake shores where thousands of flamingos paint the shoreline pink. Spot Rothschild's giraffe, buffalo herds, waterbuck, and the park's resident leopards lounging in fever trees.
Morning game drive in Nakuru for final sightings. After breakfast, drive through the Great Rift Valley to the world-famous Masai Mara. Arrive by late afternoon. Evening game drive as the savannah turns golden — the Mara's wildlife density is staggering with large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and topi visible within minutes of entering the reserve.
Full day of game drives. Morning drive tracking predators — lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Visit the Mara River where massive Nile crocodiles bask and hippo pods fill the deeper pools. During migration season, witness the dramatic wildebeest river crossings. Bush picnic lunch. Afternoon drive through open grasslands where enormous buffalo herds darken the plains and elephant families move in stately procession.
Another full day exploring different sectors. Optional hot air balloon safari at sunrise ($450). Afternoon drive followed by optional Maasai village cultural visit where you experience traditional dances and learn about their pastoral way of life. Sunset photography session as the vast Mara plains glow in golden light.
Morning game drive for final Mara sightings. Drive south to Amboseli National Park. Afternoon game drive among giant elephant herds with Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak as backdrop — the most spectacular view in African safari photography. Visit Observation Hill for a 360-degree sunset panorama.
Morning game drive as sunrise paints Kilimanjaro pink and gold. Cross into Tanzania at Namanga border. Meet your Tanzania guide. Drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and check into your crater rim lodge with spectacular views 600 meters down into the world's largest intact volcanic caldera.
Early morning descent into the Ngorongoro Crater floor — a UNESCO World Heritage Site, 20 kilometers across and home to approximately 25,000 animals including the Big Five. Spot endangered black rhinos, massive-maned lions, elephants, buffalo herds, flamingo-fringed soda lakes, and hippo pools. Picnic lunch by the hippo pool. Ascend and overnight on the rim.
Drive to the Serengeti via Olduvai Gorge — the Cradle of Mankind archaeological site. Continue into the Serengeti as the landscape opens into endless golden plains. Afternoon game drive encountering massive wildebeest herds, zebra columns, and predators. Watch for lions resting on kopjes — the iconic granite outcrops.
Full day exploring the Seronera Valley — the park's wildlife-rich central area. Morning drive tracking lion prides at kopjes, leopards in sausage trees, and cheetahs on the open plains. Picnic lunch in the bush. Afternoon drive for elephants, buffalo herds, hippo pools, and vast wildebeest herds. During migration months, witness hundreds of thousands of animals moving across the plains.
Final early morning game drive for parting wildlife encounters. After breakfast, drive back through the Ngorongoro highlands to Arusha arriving by evening. Optional transfer to Nairobi. Safari ends — 10 days across two countries, every iconic park, and the Big Five encountered multiple times.
