Day-by-Day Itinerary
Family-friendly drive north through the Kenya Highlands with fun stops along the way. Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park by lunchtime. Afternoon game drive designed for children — your guide uses picture books, animal checklists, and binoculars to help kids identify every species. Watch as thousands of flamingos paint the lake shore pink (kids love counting them!), search for rhinos in the sanctuary, spot tall Rothschild's giraffes, and laugh at baboon troops with their playful babies. Check into your family lodge with interconnecting rooms and kid-friendly meals.
Morning game drive — short and fun for younger attention spans. Drive to Lake Naivasha. Afternoon boat ride — children are mesmerized by enormous hippos surfacing and yawning. Then visit Crescent Island for a walking safari where kids can walk alongside zebras, giraffes, and gazelles safely — there are no predators on the island, making it the most child-friendly wildlife walk in Kenya. Children get up close to animals they've only seen in books.
Drive to the Masai Mara. Check into your family-friendly lodge with a swimming pool — essential for keeping kids happy between game drives. Afternoon game drive where children receive safari journals to draw and record their animal sightings. Guides make the drive interactive and educational, explaining animal behavior in ways that fascinate young minds.
Morning and afternoon game drives with a midday lodge break for kids to swim, rest, and recharge. Guides make the drives interactive and educational, explaining predator-prey relationships, animal families, and conservation. Spot the Big Five together as a family — tick them off the checklist. Watch baby elephants playing, lion cubs wrestling, and zebra foals running alongside their mothers. The Masai Mara is the perfect classroom for nature-loving families.
Second full day for special sightings. Afternoon optional Maasai village visit where children learn traditional songs and jumping dances, see how Maasai children their own age live, and marvel at colorful beadwork and warrior traditions. Kids love trying on traditional jewelry and learning warrior poses. Return to lodge for a final family safari dinner sharing favorite moments.
Final morning game drive — children present their completed safari journals and drawings. After breakfast, drive to Nairobi arriving by late afternoon. End of an unforgettable family safari that gives children memories, knowledge, and a love of wildlife that will stay with them forever.
