Day-by-Day Itinerary
Drive to Lake Nakuru National Park through the scenic Kenya Highlands. Check into your premium lakeside lodge and enjoy a welcome lunch. Afternoon game drive for flamingos, rhinos, Rothschild's giraffe, and leopard tracking around the alkaline lake shores and euphorbia forest. The lake's birdlife is extraordinary with pelicans, cormorants, and martial eagles soaring overhead. Return to the lodge for sundowner drinks by the pool and a three-course dinner.
Morning game drive in Nakuru for final sightings. After breakfast, drive to the freshwater Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley. Afternoon boat ride among hippos and fish eagles — gliding across the calm waters past pods of yawning hippos while African fish eagles swoop overhead with their distinctive haunting cry. Walk freely among wildlife on Crescent Island — zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, and gazelle roam freely in this unique sanctuary with no fences. Return to your lakeside lodge for dinner overlooking the water.
After breakfast, drive to the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Arrive by lunchtime and check into your premium Mara lodge with sweeping views across the golden savannah. After a freshly prepared buffet lunch, head out for an afternoon game drive on the vast Mara plains. The Masai Mara has the highest density of wildlife per square kilometer in Africa — expect to see wildebeest, zebra, elephants, giraffes, and with luck, predators on the prowl.
Full day of morning and afternoon game drives. Visit the Mara River for hippo and crocodile sightings and during migration season the dramatic wildebeest river crossings. Track the Big Five across different sectors of the reserve. Bush picnic lunch surrounded by wildlife. Optional hot air balloon safari at sunrise ($450) — float silently above the savannah for an unforgettable aerial perspective.
Explore different sectors not yet covered. Focus on predator tracking, photography, or birdlife depending on your interests. Your expert guide uses knowledge of animal behavior and territory to maximize sightings. Optional Maasai village cultural visit. Sundowner cocktails watching the spectacular Mara sunset paint the sky in shades of orange, gold, and purple — a fitting farewell to an incredible safari.
Final morning game drive at sunrise for last wildlife encounters. Return to the lodge for a full breakfast, check out, and drive back to Nairobi arriving by late afternoon.
