Day-by-Day Itinerary
The focus today is Flamingos and Rhino sanctuary. Set out from Kisumu and drive east through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park. Reach by lunchtime and settle into your lodge. The afternoon is reserved for a game drive around the compact but wildlife-packed park. Watch thousands of flamingos creating a striking pink carpet along the alkaline lake shore — one of Kenya's most photographed sights. Nakuru is a designated rhino sanctuary offering excellent chances to see both black and white rhinos. Look for Rothschild's giraffes, buffalo herds, waterbuck, and search for leopards in the fever trees. The park's birdlife is extraordinary with over 450 recorded species.

Today's route brings together Morning Nakuru rhino drive and Hippo boat ride. Start with a morning game drive in Nakuru exploring the southern shores and euphorbia forest where rhinos are frequently spotted. Following breakfast, drive south to the freshwater Lake Naivasha nestled in the Rift Valley. Afternoon boat ride across the lake gliding past pods of enormous hippos — watch as they surface, yawn revealing massive tusks, and submerge again. African fish eagles swoop from lakeside trees with their distinctive piercing cry. Then walk freely among zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, and gazelle on Crescent Island — a unique sanctuary with no predators where you can stroll alongside wildlife with no fences or vehicles between you.
