5-Day Kisumu, Nakuru & Masai Mara Safari

Day 1 is built around Flamingos and Rhino sanctuary. Set out from Kisumu and drive east through the spectacular Great Rift Valley landscape to Lake Nakuru National Park. The drive offers sweeping views of the Rift Valley floor stretching to the horizon. Reach by lunchtime and settle into your lodge. The afternoon is reserved for a game drive around the alkaline lake where thousands of flamingos create a breathtaking pink shoreline. Lake Nakuru is a designated rhino sanctuary — one of the best locations in Kenya to see both black and white rhinos. Look for Rothschild's giraffes, massive buffalo herds, waterbuck, and search for the park's resident leopards in the euphorbia forest.

The focus today is Morning Nakuru drive and Rift Valley. Start with a morning game drive in Nakuru for final sightings — early morning offers a good opportunity to look for leopards and lions before the day heats up. Following breakfast, drive south through the Rift Valley landscape to the iconic Masai Mara National Reserve. Reach by late afternoon and settle into your Mara lodge. Evening game drive in golden light as the vast savannah stretches endlessly before you, teeming with wildebeest, zebra, and topi — your first taste of Africa's greatest wildlife show.

Today's route brings together Big Five tracking and Mara River. Spend the day focused on game drives exploring the Masai Mara. Morning drive tracking the Big Five — lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos all call the Mara home. Stop at the Mara River where hippos fill the deeper pools and Nile crocodiles bask on the sand banks. During the Great Migration (July-October), this river is the stage for the most dramatic wildlife spectacle on Earth. Bush picnic lunch in the shade of an acacia tree surrounded by grazing antelope. Afternoon drive through different sectors for fresh wildlife encounters.
