    Tour Overview

Experience the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve on an affordable 3-day budget camping safari. Witness the Big Five — lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino — in their natural savannah habitat. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives with expert naturalist guides and sleep under African skies in comfortable camping tents. The Masai Mara is home to the Great Wildebeest Migration and offers the highest concentration of wildlife per square kilometer in Africa.

    Day-by-Day Itinerary

Depart Nairobi early morning at 7:30 AM and drive west through the scenic Great Rift Valley. Stop at the Rift Valley viewpoint for panoramic photographs of the valley floor stretching endlessly below. Continue through the wheat and barley fields of Narok town with a brief stop for refreshments. Arrive at Masai Mara National Reserve by lunchtime and check into your budget camp. After a freshly prepared lunch, head out for your first afternoon game drive exploring the vast Mara plains. Search for lions lazing under acacia trees, elephants moving in family herds, giraffes browsing the treetops, and cheetahs scanning the grasslands for prey. Return to camp for a traditional bush dinner under the stars.

Wake early for a sunrise game drive — the best time to spot predators on the hunt. The Masai Mara at dawn is magical, with golden light illuminating the savannah and wildlife at its most active. Search for the elusive leopard draped in a tree, massive buffalo herds, hippos wallowing in the Mara River, and crocodiles basking on riverbanks. After a packed bush breakfast, continue exploring deeper into the reserve. Visit the famous Mara River — the dramatic stage for the Great Wildebeest Migration crossings between July and October where thousands of wildebeest and zebra brave crocodile-infested waters. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush surrounded by wildlife. The afternoon game drive focuses on the open grasslands where cheetahs chase Thomson's gazelle and hyena clans patrol their territory. Optional visit to a traditional Maasai village to experience their centuries-old culture, dances, and way of life (small fee payable directly). Return to camp for dinner.

Enjoy a final early morning game drive for those last incredible wildlife encounters and photography opportunities. The early hours often reward travelers with rare sightings — perhaps a leopard returning from a night hunt or a lion pride with young cubs. After the game drive, return to camp for a hearty breakfast, pack up, and check out. Depart Masai Mara and drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the late afternoon by approximately 5:00 PM. Drop-off at your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. End of an unforgettable Masai Mara safari adventure.
