Tour Overview
Discover two of Kenya's most iconic national parks on this spectacular 4-day safari. Amboseli offers the world's most photographed views — massive African elephants roaming free with the snow-capped summit of Mount Kilimanjaro as the backdrop. Continue to the vast red-earth wilderness of Tsavo — Kenya's largest national park — home to the legendary man-eating lions, enormous elephant herds, and diverse landscapes from volcanic lava flows to palm-fringed rivers.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Early morning departure from Nairobi heading south on the Mombasa Highway. The 4-hour drive takes you through Athi River and the Kapiti Plains, with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro emerging on the horizon as you approach Amboseli. Arrive at Amboseli National Park by late morning and check into your accommodation. After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive across the park's open plains. Amboseli is famous for its giant elephant herds — some of the largest tuskers in Africa live here. Watch as hundreds of elephants, including playful calves, move across the golden grasslands with Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak towering 5,895 meters above. Spot wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, giraffe, and with luck, lions and cheetahs hunting on the open plains. Visit the Observation Hill for breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views across the entire park and the swamps fed by Kilimanjaro's melting glaciers. Return to camp for dinner.
Early morning game drive in Amboseli as the sunrise paints Kilimanjaro pink and gold — the most magical photography moment. After breakfast, check out and drive to Tsavo West National Park. Arrive by lunchtime. Tsavo West is known for its dramatic volcanic landscapes, the crystal-clear Mzima Springs (where you can watch hippos and crocodiles through an underwater observatory), and diverse wildlife. Afternoon game drive exploring Tsavo West's rugged lava fields, riverine forests, and open savannah. Look for elephant, buffalo, leopard, lesser kudu, gerenuk, and over 400 bird species. Visit the Shetani Lava Flows — ancient black volcanic rock stretching across the landscape.
After breakfast, drive to Tsavo East National Park — the other half of Kenya's largest conservation area. Tsavo East is famous for its vast open plains, the Galana River, and the legendary red elephants that dust-bathe in the park's distinctive red soil. Full day game drive through Tsavo East exploring the Yatta Plateau — the world's longest lava flow — and the scenic Lugard Falls on the Galana River. Spot hippo pools, crocodile basking sites, herds of buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and the famous red-dusted elephants. The park's less-visited nature means more exclusive, crowd-free wildlife encounters.
Final early morning game drive in Tsavo East to catch the last wildlife sightings as the park wakes up. After breakfast, check out and drive back to Nairobi arriving approximately 4:00-5:00 PM. Drop-off at your hotel or JKIA airport.
