Day-by-Day Itinerary

Expect the day to center on Equator crossing and Scenic Ugandan countryside. Early morning departure from Entebbe or Kampala. Travel through the lush Ugandan countryside passing through towns, tea plantations, and terraced hillsides. Stop at the Equator crossing for photos. Travel onward through the dramatic landscapes of southwestern Uganda. Reach your lodge near Bwindi in the late afternoon. Evening briefing about tomorrow's gorilla trek — what to expect, what to bring, and trekking etiquette.

Day 2 is built around Mountain gorilla trekking and 1 hour with gorilla family. Today is the main trekking day. Report to the park headquarters at 8:00 AM for registration and briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will be assigned a gorilla family to visit. Trek into the dense, misty Bwindi Impenetrable Forest with experienced trackers and armed rangers. The trek can take 1-6 hours depending on where the gorillas are — traversing steep muddy trails through thick jungle. When you find the gorilla family, you will spend one memorable hour observing these gentle giants up close. Watch silverbacks beating their chests, mothers cradling babies, and juveniles playing in the trees. The experience is profoundly emotional and humbling. Head back to your lodge exhausted but elated. Evening celebration dinner.
