4 Days Murchison Falls Safari
From $750 per person • 4 Days / 3 Nights
Tour Overview
Explore Uganda's largest national park centered around the dramatic Murchison Falls — where the Nile forces through a 7-meter gap creating the world's most powerful waterfall. Combine thrilling game drives with a spectacular boat cruise on the Victoria Nile surrounded by hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and over 450 bird species.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Drive north stopping at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a walking rhino tracking experience — the only place in Uganda to see wild rhinos. Walk through the sanctuary's open grassland with armed rangers, tracking the Southern white rhinos on foot until you're just meters away from these magnificent prehistoric-looking animals. Continue to Murchison Falls National Park arriving in the late afternoon. Check into your safari lodge overlooking the Nile. Optional sunset hike to the top of the falls for your first glimpse of this natural wonder.
Early morning game drive on the northern bank of the Victoria Nile. The vast savannah stretches to the horizon, dotted with Rothschild's giraffe, elephant herds, lion prides, buffalo, Uganda kob, Jackson's hartebeest, and oribi. After lunch, embark on a 3-hour boat cruise upstream toward the base of Murchison Falls. The Nile teems with hippos — pods of 20 or more wallowing in the shallows — massive Nile crocodiles basking on the banks, and an extraordinary diversity of waterbirds including African fish eagles, goliath herons, pied kingfishers, and the rare shoebill stork. As you approach the falls, feel the spray on your face and hear the thundering roar before the dramatic cascade comes into view.
Full day exploration with morning game drive in different sectors of the park. Afternoon visit to the Delta area where the Victoria Nile enters Lake Albert — excellent for birdwatching with pelicans, storks, and kingfishers in enormous numbers, and hippo viewing in the calm delta waters. Optional chimpanzee tracking in Budongo Forest (additional fee) — one of Uganda's best chimp habitats where habituated chimpanzee communities have been studied for decades, offering excellent viewing opportunities.
Final morning activity — choose between a short game drive for last wildlife encounters or a hike to the top of Murchison Falls for the jaw-dropping view looking down into the thundering chasm where 300 cubic meters of water per second forces through the narrow rock gap, creating a permanent rainbow in the spray. After breakfast, drive back to Entebbe arriving by evening. Transfer to airport or hotel.
