Tour Overview
Cross the border from Kenya's legendary Masai Mara into Tanzania's Serengeti for a unique safari experience following the wildlife across the continuous ecosystem that these two parks share. This is where the Great Migration plays out across two countries.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Depart Nairobi early morning and drive through the scenic Great Rift Valley escarpment with panoramic views stretching across the valley floor. Continue through Narok town with a brief stop. Arrive at the Masai Mara by lunchtime. After lunch, head out for an afternoon game drive on the vast golden savannah. The Mara's wildlife density is immediately apparent — large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and topi are visible everywhere, while lions rest under acacia trees and elephants move in family groups.
Full day of game drives. Morning drive tracking predators at their most active. Visit the Mara River where massive Nile crocodiles bask and hippo pods fill the deeper pools. During migration season, this is the stage for the dramatic wildebeest river crossings. Bush picnic lunch surrounded by wildlife. Afternoon drive exploring different sectors for elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and the elusive leopard.
Morning game drive for final Mara sightings. Cross the Kenya-Tanzania border at Isebania/Sirari. Meet your Tanzania guide. Drive into the Serengeti. The Mara and Serengeti are one continuous ecosystem — the same herds, the same predators separated only by a line on a map. Afternoon game drive as the familiar Mara ecosystem transforms into the even more vast Serengeti plains — 14,750 square kilometers of pure wilderness.
Full day exploring the legendary Serengeti. Morning drive in the Seronera Valley — lion prides resting under kopjes, leopards in sausage trees, cheetahs scanning the open plains. The open terrain makes the Serengeti the best park in Africa for watching predator hunts unfold in real time. Picnic lunch under an acacia tree. Afternoon drive for vast wildebeest herds, elephant families, and the extraordinary diversity of antelope species.
Final early morning game drive — the dawn light bathes the plains in gold and predators are returning from their night hunts. After breakfast, drive back through the Ngorongoro highlands with spectacular views to Arusha arriving by evening. Safari ends with memories of two countries and two of Africa's greatest parks.
