Tour Overview
Premium lodge accommodation through two of Kenya's most spectacular parks. Wake up to views of Mount Kilimanjaro from your Amboseli lodge, then explore the vast red-earth wilderness of Tsavo from comfortable, well-appointed lodges with swimming pools, fine dining, and stunning natural settings.
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Drive south to Amboseli National Park arriving by late morning. Check into your lodge with panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro stretching across the horizon. After a buffet lunch on the lodge terrace, head out for an afternoon game drive among the park's famous elephant herds with Africa's highest peak as the backdrop. The marshes attract extraordinary birdlife and large mammals congregate around the permanent water sources. Return to the lodge for drinks at the bar overlooking a floodlit waterhole where elephants and other animals come to drink at night — a magical spectacle from the comfort of your lodge.
Sunrise game drive for the best Kilimanjaro photography — the mountain is clearest at dawn when the first rays of light paint the snow-capped peak pink and gold. After breakfast, drive to Tsavo West National Park. Afternoon visit to Mzima Springs — crystal-clear pools fed by underground rivers from Kilimanjaro where you can watch hippos and crocodiles through an underwater viewing chamber. Explore the dramatic Shetani Lava Flows, a vast expanse of black volcanic rock formed just 200 years ago. Game drive searching for elephant, buffalo, lesser kudu, gerenuk, and the park's rich birdlife. Check into your Tsavo lodge.
Morning drive to Tsavo East across the Tsavo River bridge. Tsavo East is famous for its open plains, the Galana River, and the legendary red elephants that dust-bathe in the park's distinctive laterite soil. Full-day game drive along the Galana River where crocodiles and hippos thrive. Visit the stunning Lugard Falls where the river forces through sculptured rock formations, and drive along the Yatta Plateau — the world's longest lava flow stretching 300 kilometers. Spot the famous red-dusted elephants, buffalo herds, giraffe, and diverse birdlife in this vast, uncrowded wilderness.
Final morning game drive in Tsavo East for last wildlife sightings. After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi arriving by late afternoon. Drop-off at hotel or airport.
