Day-by-Day Itinerary
Expect the day to center on Flamingos and Rhino sanctuary. Set out from Nairobi at 7:30 AM and drive north through the scenic Kenya Highlands to Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving by lunchtime. This compact but extraordinarily wildlife-rich park is a designated rhino sanctuary — one of the best places in Kenya to see both endangered black and white rhinos up close in their natural habitat. Following lunch at your camp, embark on an afternoon game drive around the alkaline lake. Watch as thousands of flamingos create a striking pink carpet along the shoreline, while tall Rothschild's giraffes browse nearby acacia trees. Look for buffalo herds, waterbuck, baboon troops, and if fortunate, the park's resident leopards lounging in the distinctive yellow-barked fever trees that line the lake shore.

Day 2 is built around Morning Nakuru rhino drive and Rift Valley views. Early morning game drive in Nakuru focusing on areas not yet explored — the southern shores and the euphorbia forest where rhinos are frequently spotted grazing among the distinctive candelabra-like trees. Following breakfast, drive through the Great Rift Valley and continue to the iconic Masai Mara National Reserve. The drive takes you through Narok town with a brief refreshment stop. Reach your Masai Mara budget camp by late afternoon and check in. Set off for an evening game drive as golden light bathes the vast savannah — the Mara's wildlife density is staggering, with large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and topi visible within minutes of entering the reserve, while lions rest under scattered acacia trees.

- First Mara game drive
The focus today is Big Five tracking and Mara River hippos and crocs. Spend the day exploring the Masai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives covering different sectors of this vast and legendary reserve. The morning game drive ventures to the Mara River where massive Nile crocodiles bask on sandbanks and hippo pods fill the deeper pools — during migration season (July-October), this is the dramatic stage for the Great Wildebeest Migration river crossings. Discover the open grasslands where lion prides patrol their territory, cheetahs sprint after Thomson's gazelle at speeds over 100 km/h, and enormous buffalo herds darken the rolling plains. Enjoy a bush picnic lunch surrounded by wildlife. The afternoon drive focuses on Big Five tracking and seeking out the elusive leopard in riverside trees. Optional visit to a traditional Maasai village ($25) for authentic cultural dances and traditions.

Today's route brings together Dawn game drive and Final wildlife-viewing opportunity. Final early morning game drive for last incredible wildlife sightings. The dawn hours in the Mara are memorable — golden light illuminates the savannah, predators are active after their nocturnal hunts, and lion cubs play in the cool morning air. After the game drive, return to camp for breakfast, pack up, and depart for Nairobi. Reach by late afternoon approximately 5:00 PM. Drop-off at your hotel or JKIA airport.
